Ensure that TEVET graduates access free business registration certificates to open up their own firms as a way of empowering them economically. Above all, link up with both the private and the public sectors to finance graduates after their successful internship.
Allocate more resources to TEVET sector to establish what we want to achieve without wasting time and take this sector and believe in it that best things will come through it rather than underrating such institution
Malawi's Vision 2063 is aimed at transforming the country into a prosperous and self-reliant nation. Tevet, or Technical and Vocational Education and Training, can play a critical role in achieving this vision by providing skills development and training opportunities that can help individuals and communities build sustainable livelihoods.
To align Tevet with Malawi's 2063 national strategic plan, the following steps can be taken:
1. Identify key sectors of the economy: Tevet training programs should be aligned with the priority sectors of the economy identified in Malawi's 2063 national strategic plan. This will ensure that the skills developed are relevant to the needs of the economy and can contribute to its growth.
2. Develop relevant training programs: Once the priority sectors have been identified, Tevet training programs can be developed to meet the specific needs of those sectors. These programs should be designed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure that the skills developed are relevant and up-to-date.
3. Ensure accessibility: To maximize the impact of Tevet training programs, they should be made accessible to all Malawians, regardless of their location or socio-economic status. This can be achieved through partnerships with local communities and the private sector, as well as through the use of technology to deliver training programs online.
4. Monitor and evaluate progress: It is important to monitor and evaluate the impact of Tevet training programs on the economy and on individuals. This will ensure that the programs are effective and can be adjusted as needed to achieve the desired outcomes.
By aligning Tevet with Malawi's 2063 national strategic plan, the country can develop a skilled workforce that is equipped to drive economic growth and achieve sustainable development.
There is need to channel resources to meaningful partnerships between TEVET and bilateral partners to grow already existing small and medium enterprises so that they can absorb students leaving technical institutions. There is need to identify and develop capacity for these small and medium indigenous companies. They are the frontier economic growth and job creation for the young population leaving trade schools in there thousands.
